Pokemon is one of the world's most popular games and has been for over a decade. The Sydney Games Centre is currently the only store in Sydney running an official Pokemon League, which is a great opportunity to meet other trainers, have fun, and trade. We also run monthly cometitive tournaments for more serious Pokemon Trainers. We've got a great community of friendly players and we recently hosted the 2007 Pokemon Australian Nationals. If you (or your children) are interested in learning more about this great game or want some help starting out come in and talk to Vickey, our Pokemon Tournament Organiser! The SGC stocks a huge range of starters and boosters from many Pokemon sets (and not just the latest one.) We currently carry the following sets: Secret Wonders, Mysterious Treasures, Diamond and Pearl, Power Keepers, Crystal Guardians, Holon Phantoms, Emerald, and Legend Maker. We also carry the full range of Pokemon Trading Figure Game starters and boosters!

Events

Pokemon Elite Beats Series
Are you a total Pokemon Master looking for a more competitive environment than League to test out your deck? Well, Vickey came up with a new series of events for you Elite Trainers out there.

Over three months (November, December, January) the SGC will run an Elite Beats Series. At each tournament, you will get points depending on where you finish. At the end of the series, the overall winner will get a $100 Gift Certificate to the SGC! If there is a tie at the end of the three tournaments, the winners will battle it out at the next League for their prize. The point breakdown is 4 points for 1st, 3 points for 2nd, 2 points for 3rd, and 1 point for everyone else. You must use a legal deck.
This is a bit of a test run--if we get a lot of excitement about it we will run a series every three months!

Dates of next events: Saturday 29 December and Saturday 26 January. (The last Saturday of every month at 12 noon). What: Bring a deck of 60 legal cards and play!
Entry: $12
Prizes: There will be a two-booster per player prize pool--everyone will get at least one booster and the rest will be divvied up amongst the top performers. Everyone will get points towards earning that $100 at the end of the three months!

Pokemon Sydney City Championships
When: Sunday 6 January. 12pm
Format: Constructed: Modified Legal (no fake cards and cards from Holon Phantoms and later only.
Entry: $10
Prizes: Medals for the top 3 in each age group as well as a cute Shinx City Champs Promo Card! There will also be heaps of boosters handed out...

Weekly Pokemon League
Pokemon League is less intense than competitive tournaments and great fun besides. Play the TCG or TFG against other trainers to earn really cool prizes based on how many games you play--not how many you win. If you haven't got a legal deck, Vickey's got a few loaners so you can still come in, have fun, and win cards to put towards building your own.
When: Every Sunday at 12pm til 3:30. What: Bring a deck of 60 legal cards and play to earn rewards!
Entry: $6
Prizes: League players earn heaps of POP packs of promo cards, stickers, badges, foil promo cards, boosters, and fun random prizes regardless of how they go!

Learn to Play Pokemon
When: Every Sunday at 11am. (Or you can call ahead and schedule a time that works for you)
What: Anyone is welcome to stop by for a free demo!
Entry: Free!
