NEWSLETTER - 19/10/2007
Hey Guys,
Heaps of funky games and events were on last weekend, with Chris and
Vickey right in the middle of things down at Armageddon, and WOTC
demoing MTG, Dreamblade and Star Wars Minis out at Supanova(where they
got over 100 sign ups!). Here at SGC we had 39 players for YGO Hobby
League, 10 for Mechwarrior(a near record!)8 for Heroclix, 3 MTG drafts
and 22 players for YGO teams Saturday afternoon. No wonder Kieren
looked frazzled!
This week is much the same, except with the return of the all star
team of Vickey and Chris. Lets see whats on this weekend!
YUGIOH TRADEABLE CARD GAME
Well done to 2 Alex's-Antonies in the opens and Picton in the 13 and
unders for winning last Saturdays Yugioh Hobby Leagues. And then 2
teams,Asian Brancalion and Team Haterade, both went 3-0 to win the
Teams event against 9 other teams! Great dueling guys!
Tomorrow its on again. YGO Hobby League from 10am-1pm. Its $5, UDE
sanctioned and everyone wins a prize. Then Saturday afternoon its 2
player teams again. Its from 1.30pm-4.30pm, our own funky style rules
created by the format master Obiwan Foggobi himself, its also just $5
per player to play and everyone wins a prize

MAGIC THE GATHERING TRADEABLE CARD GAME
Somehow one of Sydneys greatest top deckers, Adrian Capilitan, pulled
victory from the jaws of defeat last Sunday by going 5-1 in our draft
tournament. Rhett Eldridge looked to have the beans in the bag going
into round 6 at 5-0, but he lost to former backstreet boy Scott Smith,
whilst Adrian won. Then the computer did its magic and had Adrian in
front on resistance. Great work guys.
This Sunday we're having a State Championship warm up thats also a

Now is my favourite time of the year to play MTG. The new format is
in, everything is new and no one knows what is going on, meaning the
best, most innovative deck builders have a chance to shine. The prize
Chris is offering is insane, plus bragging rights never, ever run out
if you're State Champ! Come on in and play, it'll be a fun day if
nothing else
We also have Thursday night drafts for just $12(well done Kenny
Nguyen, Johnny Link and Pradeep Widana-Pathitrana for winning a draft

most tastes and playstyles. If you'd like a demo cruise in anytime
where Obiwan or myself would be happy to show you how its done.
WORLD OF WARCRAFT TRADEABLE CARD GAME
Congrats to Loius Armstrong for winning last nights WOW draft. Troy
cut a swathe through the Americans at Gen Con in August, losing just 1
match in 3 days in all formats. Unfortunantly he bombed out horribly
at Nationals, so isn't going to Worlds, but he is still an awesome
player none the less(and a friend of mine)and played well last evening.
WOW Hobby League is on again on Saturday from 2pm till 5pm. Its just
$6 to play with promos and boosters up as prizes.
THE SPOILS TRADEABLE CARD GAME
Finally this awesome TCG is in AU and I am very glad it is. I had a
demo of this at Socal '06 and thought not only was the game fantastic,
but the way Tenacious Games went about things was also inspirational.
And after some meetings with them and a few emails we now have The
Spoils TCG at Sydney Games Centre! For the next few Saturdays we're
having free, casual games of The Spoils for people to get the hang of
the game and get a deck together(drafting is a great way to learn the
game and get the cards guys!), then we'll start up weekly events each
Saturday. Plus, before Christmas we'll be running, along with other
stores in Sydney and Melbourne, a Spoils spectacular weekend were
they'll be a day 1 sealed event for a Wii, and a $500 constructed
tournament on day 2! Its a great game, with 1920's Victorian art mixed
hilariously with pop culture sayings and humour. We have pre-cons,
boosters and tournament packs available, and the next set is due out
January. They'll be States and Nationals events for this game next
year, and they have their world championships on a cruiser in the
Caribean!
Tournament packs and pre-cons are just $18, and boosters just $5.50
each(or a box of 12 for $60!). The game is great, the OP is terrific,
