Hey Fearless Explorers!It was a VERY exciting weekend last weekend as it was the finals of
our 2006-2007 Player of the Year championships. After 12 months of
events, 7 players had the the 19+ points to qualify, and one
qualified player had a bit of a night the night before and couldn't
make it. So after checking the standings, the final invite passed
down to Tim Treffer, who scored his 8 points the week before(coming
2nd to the MIGHTY Allan Sharpe). History will show that Tim, all of
about 16 years old, playing his first ever duplicate sealed event,
bashed Sydney's finest players in double elimination to become the
2006-2007 Sydney Games Centre Player of the Year! Great work Tim, he
is now going to Grand Prix Brisbane on us!
This weekend is more of the same, let take a look at what is coming
up!
NEW RELEASES: Naruto expansion 5 is back in stock!!! As is 3rd
expansion. Trek $49 starter/booster combos are in, and VS Marvel
Legends expansion is also in stock. Special WOW life counter dice is
in stock also, and Heroclix JLA boosters are in stock as well.
VS(Marvel & DC)TRADEABLE CARD GAME
GREAT NEWS! The new expansion, Marvel Legends, is in and this Sunday
we're running a sealed tournament to celebrate its much anticipated
arrival. UDE has changed the layout of the cards making them more
new player friendly, and cooler looking, plus reprinted a variety of
old favourites that veteran players will appreciate. Details as
follows:
When: Sunday 23rd September. 12 noo rego, 12.30pm start
Format: ML Sealed(you get 5 boosters of Marvel Legends to crack and
make your best 30 card minimum deck with)
Entry: $35
Prizes: Heaps of boostersand t-shirts up as prizes, plus a fun day
of playing sealed VS with a new set!
We're also running VS drafts each Tuesday and Thursday nights from
6pmish, so if you'd like to play cruise in then and try out the new
expansion!
And speaking of VS, the JUST FRIGGING PLAY tournament scheduled for
this Sunday and been moved to Public Holiday Monday 1st October(yes
we are open that day!). Its the first in a series of fun, cheap
event designed to get the VS goobers back into deck building and
playing mode. Details as follows:

Format: Modern Age(will be Legions of Superheros, Marvel Team Up,
Worlds Finest & Marvel Legends!)

There will be a JUST FRIGGING PLAY Silver Age tournament October
14th, so start making decks NOW(I know you all have 2 million cards,
so use them!)
VS is a great game. We have a pumping range of singles available,
boosters starting from just $2 to $5, and premade decks from $10. If
you'd like a game cruise in anytime where Sideburn Man(Chris) or his
trusty sidekick Gooberboy(Kieren)would be happy to show you how its
done.
MAGIC THE GATHERING TRADEABLE CARD GAME
As we said earlier, Tim Treffer is the Sydney Games Centre player of
the Year. He starts off the new season with 10 points, along with
Joey Medak who won the non finalist Player of the Year tournament on
Sunday as well. Special mention to Colin Harris who was consistent
all year, then lost to Tim in the final. Bad luck mate, but at least
you have 8 points towards next years Championship!
This Sunday its our Grand Prix Brisbane trial! The winner will get 3
byes at GP Brissie, details as follows:

WOW, lots on, as well as our usual Friday night magic, always type 2
and always fun at 6.30pm tonight, our Thursday night booster drafts
on each Thursday from 5pmish and they are just $12!!!, our Saturday

We have a thumping range of MTG singles, LOTS of boosters, heaps of
precons and lots of experience playing, running and teaching MTG. If
you'd like a demo cruise in anytime and we'll show you how its done.
YUGIOH TRADEABLE CARD GAME
Last Saturday YGO tournaments were won by Po Jiang(under 13's)and
Kevin Luong(opens). Lots of prizes were given out, heaps of fun had
by all, and everyone won something(as well as UDE sanctioning points
as well). Our Hobby League tournament is on again this Saturday from
10am-1pm. Its just $5 to play with promos and boosters up as prizes.
Next Sunday event is a Regionals on September 30th. Details as
follows:

finish around 4.30pm)

Then on Public Holiday Monday 1st October we're running a 2 player
teams win a box tournament! Details as follows:

Format: 2 player team constructed(Advanced format)
Entry: $10 per player($20 per team)
Prizes: Winning team takes home a box of boosters! Heaps of prizes
and t-shirts for place getters, plus a fun day of playing YGO TEAMS!
And to practice, each Saturday afternoon at 1.30pm we run a 2 player
team event. Its just $5 to play per player and lots of prizes up for
grabs
We have just gotten MORE TAEV boosters, plus Warrior, Dragon &
Zombie structure decks, as well as lots more duelists packs(we keep
running out!). We have a great range of singles available, and with
around 30 players each Saturday, the chances of you being able to
trade for the cards you need are fairly good.
The new set is due out November, and an exciting new mall tour is in
the works. Things for the biggest TCG are looking even BIGGER!
WORLD OF WARCRAFT COLLECTABLE CARD GAME
Azeroth walkers will be pleased to know that our Hobby League is on
again this Saturday at 2pm. Entry is just $6 with boosters and
promos up as prizes, plus a great arvo of playing WOW TCG. Lots of
cool people play and hang out talking and trading WOW on Saturday
arvos, plus the event is UDE sanctioned so you can work on your
rating. A $1000 tournament is coming to Sydney in November, and the
World Championships is in San Diego first week in December, where
Paul Vanderwerk and Jimmy Xing will be representing AU.
We also run drafts every Thursday night from 6pm for just $24. Its
UDE sanction, heaps of fun and a great way to grab the cards you
need for constructed play.Plus we put Hobby League promo cards up as
prizes!
We have a fine range of singles available, plus all the boosters
(base set just $5!)so if you'd like to try this fine TCG, now is a
good time to pop in and ask for a demo.
STAR TREK 2ND EDITION COLLECTABLE CARD GAME
Last Sunday we ran a fun funky tournament and after 3 rounds Scott
Newsome, running a Federation deck, went 3-0 to win the first pick
of the board(he took the Borg t-shirt). Kieren the Klingong was
second and Mike with his funky Original series guys(Kirk, Spock etc)
came in third. Tuesday night saw half a dozen players, including new
players April & Rene, drop in and play fun Trek for free, and test
out new decks. And the GREAT news for new players is we have
Premiere edition(thats base set)starter and booster combo boxes for
just $49!!! Thats 8 starters and 24 boosters, enough to build a
great Trek deck, and have trades left over, for just $49!!! There is
a new expansion due out next month, plus LOTS of others out already,
so this is a great chance to get into Kieren's favourite TCG. You
know you'll always get a game, because Kieren is nearly always at
work!
The next scheduled tournament is on Monday 1st October(public
holiday!). It's constructed, details as follows:

HEROCLIX COLLECTABLE MINIATURES GAME
This Sunday something exciting is happening, its the release
tournament for the new DC expansion Justice League! Details as
follows:
When: Sunday 23rd September. 1.30pm rego, 2pm start
Format: JLA Sealed(you get 2 boosters to crack and make your best
300 point team with)
Entry: $35
Prizes: LE's and crakced boosters up as prizes, plus a fun day of
playing clix with the new expansion!
We play clix each and every Sunday at 2pm. We mix formats, but its
always fun. Cool people play the game and laugh oodles all
afternoon, and the revamped boosters of popular characters make the
packs even better value. If you'd like to try cruise in on a Sunday
and see how its done.
LEGEND OF THE FIVE RINGS
L5R players have had more than a renaissance lately with HEAPS of
new players joining the game, and some older players(you know who
you are Rory!)coming back to play. And this weekend is a great time
for both those groups as its the pre-release of the new expansion
Stronger than Steel! Yep, the new expansion is out this weekend and
we're running a sealed tournament for it. Details as follows:

Format: Stronger than Steel sealed(you get a starter of your choice
and 3 boosters to crack to make your deck with)

Prizes: Promo cards, boosters, and a whle lot of other stuff up as
prizes, plus a fun day of playing L5R with the cards before they go
on sale!
AEG, the guys who make L5R, have done a superb job in the last 3
months setting up organised play programs and are reaping the
benefits. The game is second only to MTG as far as how long its been
going, and is still getting great crowds. If you'd like to have a go
this SUnday is the NUTS time to come along as its a new set and will
have the best players in Sydney around to show you how its done.
POKEMON TRADEABLE CARD GAME
The new expansion, Mysterious Treasure, is being pre-released Sunday
30th September! More details next week, but it will be Sunday 30th!
We'll also run our usual league both this Sunday and the next, entry
is just $6 with everyone winning a prize.
MECHWARRIOR COLLECTABLE MINIATURES GAME
Just a reminder that we play Mechwarrior each Sunday from 3pm-6pm.
We had 8 players last Sunday and everyone had a blast. Its fun,
costs just $5 to play and everyone wins something. LE's are up as
prizes for the winners, and they guys are always keen to help new
players blast them into the ether with a gause rifle.
DUELMASTERS TRADEABLE CARD GAME
This Sunday we're running our first Duelmasters tournament in some
time, Duelmasters Resurrection! Details as follows:
When: Sunday 23rd Septmber. 10.30am rego, 11am start
Format: Constructed
Entry: $5
Prizes: Heaps of boosters as prizes(everyone wins 2 at least)plus
some promos and other duelmaster paraphernalia.
Duelmasters is fun. Its only $1 per booster, so its cheap. It plays
as an entry level to MTG, so its simple, and the expansions have
some of the longest, silliest names ever concieved for a TCG name.
But its fun, people want it so we're gonna deliver!
