NEWSLETTER - 06/02/07

Hi Roller Derbyers,

As we speak Obiwan Foggobi and Mistress of Lerve Vickey are swanking
their way up the west coast of California to Vickeys home town of
Portland, where cupid shot his wistful arrow, missed, and hit a
hungover berat wearing Field Commander Foggo in the guts holding a soy
milk frappacino prepared to him by Vickey herself. Field Commander
would have asked her out there and then, but had to level up his Mario
Cart character on Game Boy first, so went and played by himself for 90
minutes, then returning to formally ask Vickers out to see a country
band. You know it was love at first sight when she said sure...

Last we heard Field Commander was playing a MTG sealed tournament,
showing the septics how its done OLD SCHOOL down under. FCF was 0-4 at
last report...

The fun never stops at Sydney Games Centre, coz as busy as last
weekend was, this weekend is twice as hectic.

VS(Marvel & DC)TRADEABLE CARD GAME

Last weekend lots of things happened. Aside from the kaliedescope of
drafts that happened during the week, we held a Pro Circuit Sydney
last chance qualifier. The top 4 players made it through, and they
were:

Kai Chung
Kenny Le Bon
Martin Hall
Jason Au

These guys are now going to be gearing up for the Pro Circuit March 1-
4 for a chance to win a part of the 250K US on offer-good luck guys!

Kai then backed up to win a spontaneous Golden Age tournament. New
player Liam Luangrath, who is around 9 years old and has been playing
for around 2 weeks, showed Paul Vanderwerk how its done playing X-Men
by coming in a fine second, and Mr Unaffiliated Jason Au came in 3rd.
Great work guys

This weekend its the Sneak Preview of the much anticipated Marvel set,
Marvel Team Up. Some of the cards have been spoilt on vsparadise,

We also have some kicking SA decks at the store if you'd like to
borrow them and run your deck through a gauntlet. Avengers,
Brotherhood, Good Guys, Villians United/Arkham being the gauntlet.
Playing a VS constructed then switching to a draft will hopefully get
peoples heads into the PC format switching zone.

And then the Pro Circuit itself rolls into town March 1-4. Last Chance
Qualifiers on Thursday 1st March, the Pro Circuit itself Friday 2nd,
plus HEAPS of PCQ's, sealed events, drafts and other VS goodness over
4 days of gaming heaven.

This event will be mega, with a MAJOR World of Warcraft and Yugioh
tournament happening along side the Pro Circuit. The only thing
comparable to this BIG event is when the Magic World Championships
where held in Sydney 2002. It will be that big. More details when they
come to hand, but keep March 1-4 free

And finally on VS, we draft each Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm, play
Hobby League Constructed Friday nights from 7pm and have Silver Age
Saturdays each Saturday arvo from 2pm. Its great, get amongst it.

MAGIC THE GATHERING COLLECTABLE CARD GAME

In last Thursdays draft Hughie Shonkopolis threw in is mandatory draw

saw Brint Gardener throw in his mandatory draw( 0-0 vs Monty) to go 3-
0-1 with a Field Commander Foggo-Gardener deck to win the Foil Deep
Analysis from MTG GURU The Mighty Allan Sharpe. Tomas finished on the
podium again and up and coming MTG guru Gary Buckman punched above his
weight to finish 4th. Nice work guys!

This Sunday is the turn of the Legacy players. Because of all the
Planar Chaos release events in January we missed the Legacy event last
month, so this month we're throwing in a judges only, foil promo Ball
Lightning as an additional prizes. And it looks sexy. The only reason
I can do this is because Obiwan Foggobi is on another continent, and
its easier to ask forgiveness than permission :)

Extended is my favourite format, so hopefully I'll be able to play.
Its heaps of fun, the prizes are very generous(especially if you're an
amatuer!)and the chance to play a Pro Tour in our neck of the woods
makes this a must do event!

Also on Saturdays now we're running our junior Saturday afternoon

they get get tips from fine players and play against kids there own

The dueling was intense last Saturday morning as after 4 rounds Adam
Szlek went UNDEFEATED to win the junior tournament, thus bumping him

STAR TREK 2ND EDITION TRADEABLE CARD GAME

My favourite game, Trek, is on each Sunday arvo from 1.30pm. Its just
$5 to play, Decipher sanctioned, and everyone wins a prize!

On the 4th March we're swinging into Territorial/Continental mode with
a win a box tournament! Details as follows:

a specially hand crafted trophy similar to the one on Claytons mantle
piece as we speak. Boosters and promos across the board, but more
importantly a fun day of playing TREK!!!

The best thing about Trek is actually just PLAYING! The game is
awesome, especially if you like the series. The last 2 expansions have
been focused on Voyager and Enterprise, so coupled with TNG and DS9 in
the first expansions you can pretty much play any team you want, from
any series, and be competitive. The game rocks, the people who play it
are true gamers, and at $4 a booster/$10 a starter its MEGA cheap. If
you'd like a demo pop in and see Kieren the Klingon. He'll see you
right :)

WORLD OF WARCRAFT TRADEABLE CARD GAME

Alex Antonies, master of YGO and VS, went 3-0 to win our weekly WOW
Hobby League tournament Saturday. Alex's talent is only overshadowed
by his former hairstyle and the width of his white belt, which he
assures me the chicks love, though no tangible proof has surfaced on
this issue, despite incentives from Luke Bartter and Troy Armstong for
Alex to produce some. AJ beat Andy Liu into second, with Winston
Cardenes 3rd. Great work guys.

WOW Hobby League is on again this Saturday from 2pm. Entry is just $6
with boosters and Hobby League EA's up as prizes.

We also draft WOW each Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6pm. Its $25
for a playset of 4 boosters(or BYO), UDE sanctioned and rare picks up
as prizes-plus its heaps of fun.

HEROCLIX COLLECTABLE MINIATURES GAME

I can't remember who won Clix last Sunday, but I got the feeling it
was Justin Z-fine work Justin! Neil was in Sunday as well and has
worked out the next months worth of events, including a very special

lend you one!

the release on Sunday, if we have any left. Ultrapro deck boxes are
also back in stock. Horror Clix expasnion The Lab is also due in this
week, but sexy Angela from Croftminster tells me arrival times are
still sketchy.

Thats it for this week-Obiwan and Vickey travel safe, Darth Cornford
have fun in Calcutta(I'll try to write soon)and Julia in Brisvegas
thansk for helping out with flyers!

Cheers All

Chris, Kieren & Vickey
