NEWSLETTER - 04/08/06

Greetings Space Crusaders!,

Those popping in on Saturday will notice that Field Commander Foggo is wearing his favourite bands T-Shirt-WOLFMOTHER. Chris has been a fan of the band ever since they began the musical journey back in the old Erskinville days. SO when you see him feel free to cruise on up and talk WM favourite songs, albums and gigs with him.

In case any of you aren’t aware, Kieren has managed to secure a gig for his band at his local public establishment. This is no mean feat considering he has no band, no songs ready and no actual date for the gig yet. But in true Rock and Roll fashion he has been auditioning band members to find the
elements of our society who share his 'vision'. He's hired the tour us to take him from his pad to the gig, normally a 2 minute drive, but he is big on making an entrance. He's been buying his 15th Guitar, (so he doesn’t have to retune onstage I think), and preparing his Rock Outfit. Knowing of my hatred for all things Wolfmother he has been trying on a nice white Afro wig, bellbottoms copying the poses and stylings of the Bay City Rollers and David Cassidy as well as brushing his hair forward in true 70's Dinosaur Rock

Style, oh he's bought all the box sets of the Osbourne's T.V show in case he missed something.

This weekend on our birthday celebration, be prepared for impromptu renditions of either 'smoke on the water', 'it’s raining men' or 'the locomotion' depending on which direction he finally decides his band will take.

So for those ready to rock or game, we salute you!!!

This weekend is our 4th birthday weekend (actually, it was Tuesday 1st, but having a party on a Tuesday didn't hold much appeal) so a vast majority of our events this weekend are FREE to celebrate! 4 years of doing what we love, to everyone who has cruised into the store to buy things, play events or just generally come in to hang out and make SGC the nice friendly place it is, thanks heaps.

Upcoming Games we are running organised play for:

DREAM-BLADE: New Fantasy Miniatures game from Wizards of the Coast.
There is going to be money premier events for this as well as regular tournaments every week. We will be holding a release tournament for it as soon as it is released. More details as they come to hand!

WORLD OF WARCRAFT TCG: Preview cards are now up at:

We will be running launch tournaments and regular big events. Boosters will give you bonus for your online character, and the card art looks amazing!!!

Accessories:
Spotlight: Card storage boxes! We have 800 card, 3000 card and 8000 card, storage boxes. Perfect for helping you contain your sprawl of a collection. Get your rares off the kitchen table and neatly organised before your cat drools on your Black Lotus!!!

Boardgames:
Spotlight: Puerto Rico has won lots of awards for best game. In our usual fashion we got carried away and ordered too much stock.
Our clerical error is your financial gain as they are now on special for $50 instead of the usual $89. Only for a limited time, until they are gone!
Events: Saturday afternoons is still boardgame day. It’s free to play...! Gather from early afternoon to borrow some of the store open copies of great games, bring your own game in and find some willing game players.

D+D Mini:

Spotlight: War of the Dragon Queen boosters selling fast, get a dragon sized discount when you pick up a case! Angel fire boosters back in for a very limited time.
Events: Tuesday nights is our trading night. We run a 500pt warband tournament on the first Tuesday of each month. Last weeks event was won convincingly and comprehensively by Chivalrous Carl. If you wish to test your mettle with your 'conan- like' plastic people, our next event is Tuesday Sept 5 at 6pm. Sydney Challenge 2, August 26th and 27th, both a sealed and
constructed event over the 2 days. Last year was massive; we have
prize support from Wizards as well as tons of limited edition figs to give away.

Games Workshop:
New: We've had a massive restock of our 40k line, including some limited space marine blisters Chaplin Cassius, Captain Shrike and Captain Lysander.
Dont forget the relaunch of Warhammer Fantasy with a new box set and updated rulebook happens Sept!

Spotlight: Necrons...they just don’t die, they go down and they get back up. We have the Nightbringer, Destroyers of all flavours and the kickass warrior units.

Events: Social play every Sunday from 11am, FREE, bring a 1500pt army, even if it’s unpainted. If you are just 40K curious- come along to watch and chat with a really friendly bunch of players.

HeroClix:
New: Marvel Danger Room, comes with new maps, new X-Men and updated rules. A great time to get started for a cheap intro price!
Spotlight: Universe boosters on special, were $6.50 now $5. We also have a new selection of $2 goodie bag repack boosters. Get 4 clix for only $2!

One Piece
Spotlight: If you watch the show, or reed the Manga and want to learn how to play it’s never been easier! Vickey runs demos before the Saturday tournament at 12.00noon for free and we have deck we can loan out to those who just want a taste of competition in this super fun game.
Events: Every Saturday at 1pm, $6, we are getting over 10 players every week. However, because it’s our birthday this Saturday its FREE! We have foils and promos to give out as well as card prizes to every player!!

Pirates:
Spotlight : All expansions on special for $3 a booster till sold out!

Pokemon:
New: Ex-Crystal Guardians release event comes out 24th August! Be here for it! Prizes as usual will be awesome!
Spotlight: Special Pokemon Folders only $15, keeps 180 different cards clean and sharp.
Events: Free event this week! For our Birthday we are running our Pokemon League for no cost this weekend. It’s on every Sunday at 12.00 noon!

Roleplaying:
New: Monster Manual 4, New Fantastic Locations module, Ebberon Secrets of Xen'drik.
Spotlight: Limited amount of ridiculously cheap roleplaying books. At least 60% off a big selection. Once they are gone they wont come back, so pick up some great adventure books from non- Wizards design studios.
Events: Saturday is still the day for groups to meet up and start
off campaigns. We have a noticeboard for gamers looking to start or have new players join a group. So come in and let us try to get rolling...

Star Trek:
Spotlight: Our boosters and Starters are soooo cheap. We also have a special deal pack for anyone who wants to learn and join the fun.
Events: Next tournament August 19! Can the Borg be beaten again!! I certainly think so, Kieren is still hanging on to the folourn hope that the Federation are anything other than self righteous duds!! I think an all Ferengi event would be much more interesting.
